History was made in 2009 when FIDI announced the formation of a new Board Nomination Committee. Its purpose was to introduce a new and transparent process of electing board members, in line with current trends in other parts of the world. The new process won the full support of the FIDI Associations which now have an active role to play in this important aspect of FIDI management.
 
The new Nomination Committee is chaired by the Immediate Past President who may call upon two past presidents to join him. In addition, the FIDI Associations will elect three of their own representatives. Under the new structure, the Board Nomination Committee will function as an executive search firm, collecting nominations and identifying individuals with the kind of qualifications that will contribute to the Board and the future growth of the FIDI Global Alliance.
