2020 FIDI Conference postponed due to COVID-19

The COVID-19 outbreak is making headlines daily all around the world, and the global situation is becoming increasingly critical. International travel (especially to and from Asia) has become almost impossible, with more and more countries taking drastic measures to stop the spread of the virus. In light of a possible generalized lockdown and real concerns for the health of our Affiliates, the FIDI Board feels that we don’t have the choice but to postpone the 2020 FIDI Conference, scheduled in Osaka, to next year.

As you can imagine, this is not an easy decision to take and it comes with many repercussions – for FIDI as an organisation, for our Affiliates, and all of you who were looking forward to an exceptional event. We are now working on the possibility of rescheduling the conference in the same location in 2021 and are looking into all the ramifications this decision entails.

We fully understand that you will have many questions, but we are asking for a few days of patience, while we work out the new arrangements.

On behalf of the FIDI Board, I thank you all for your loyal support and understanding.

Ebru Demirel
FIDI President
