CML SAFEPAK: Shortage of containers in Jordan

On Thursday, 24 June, CML SAFEPAK released the following announcement regarding the shortage of containers in Jordan:

"Please note that at the current time, the shipping industry in Jordan - just like many other countries - is experiencing a container shortage primarily caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

At the moment MSC line is the only carrier accepting bookings (despite the fact that Space availability is not guaranteed) while other carriers – for example shipping giant Maersk -  are significantly affected and not providing rates due to the insufficiency in containers in addition to space unavailability.

In the light of the above, with the situation being unprecedented and ever- shifting, the shipping lines in spite of their efforts to adapt and increase their capacity, unfortunately are unable to provide a timeline for how long this situation will last, as it depends on the flow of incoming containers.

They anticipate it may take a couple of weeks to improve, but again are not willing to guarantee anything. We are checking on a daily basis with them, and will keep you updated to the best of our ability.

But on the bright side, kindly be advised that this situation effects are limited to ocean freight shipments only, and DOES NOT affect air freight shipments.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to CML SAFEPAK at any time."
