On Thursday, May 14, the Port of Antwerp said an oil leak affecting two terminals has caused some interruptions in shipping traffic. As a result, the Europe terminal and the North Sea terminal were closed. The port remains fully operational outside the two affected terminals.

According to the Port of Antwerp's website, "the oil leak was spotted at the Europe terminal (S869) this night and has spread to the North Sea terminal. Shipping is partly blocked. Shipping can only take place in the vicinity. The Europe terminal and the North Sea terminal are closed."

"We closely monitor the situation together with GNA, Brabo and AMT. Oil pollution was found on the quays and on ships in the area. Only a very minimal contamination on the water was found. Every effort is made to get the terminals operational as soon as possible."

"The port remains fully operational outside the two affected terminals."

More information can be found on the Port of Antwerp's website.
